BNV : দায়ূদ তাঁর লোকদের একবার গুনে নিলেন| তিনি 1000 জন এবং 100 জন করে লোক ভাগ করে প্রতিটি দলের জন্য একজন অধিনাযক নিযুক্ত করলেন|

KJV : And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.
YLT : and David sendeth the third of the people by the hand of Joab, and the third by the hand of Abishai, son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, and the third by the hand of Ittai the Gittite, and the king saith unto the people, `I certainly go out -- I also -- with you.`

ERVEN : He separated them into three groups and sent them out. Joab led a third of the men. Joab's brother, Abishai son of Zeruiah led another third. And Ittai from Gath led the last third. King David said to them, "I will also go with you."

BNV : কিন্তু লোকরা বলে উঠল, “না! আপনি আমাদের সঙ্গে একদম আসবেন না| কেন? কারণ আমরা যদি যুদ্ধক্ষেত্র থেকে পালিয়ে যাই, তাহলে অবশালোমের লোকরা ধর্তব্য়ের মধ্যেই আনবে না| এমনকি, আমাদের অর্ধেক লোক যদি মারাও যায় তাতেও অবশালোমের লোকদের কিছু এসে যাবে না, কিন্তু আপনি আমাদের 10,000 লোকর সমান| তাই আপনার পক্ষে শহরে থাকাই ভাল| তখন আমরা সাহায্য চাইলে আপনি আমাদের সাহায্য করতে পারবেন|”
KJV : But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now [thou art] worth ten thousand of us: therefore now [it is] better that thou succour us out of the city.
YLT : And the people say, `Thou dost not go out, for if we utterly flee, they do not set [their] heart upon us; and if half of us die, they do not set [their] heart unto us -- for now like us [are] ten thousand; and now, better that thou be to us from the city for an helper.`

ERVEN : But they said, "No! You must not go with us. If we run away in the battle, Absalom's men will not care. No, even if only half of us are killed, Absalom's men will not care. But you are worth 10,000 of us! It is better for you to stay in the city. Then, if we need help, you can come help us."

BNV : রাজা তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা যা ভাল বোঝ আমি তাই করব|”তখন রাজা ফটকের একদিকে দাঁড়ালেন| সৈন্যবাহিনী বেরিয়ে গেল| শ’যে শ’যে এবং হাজারে হাজারে সেনাবাহিনী বেরিয়ে এল|

BNV : য়োয়াব, অবীশয এবং ইত্তযকে রাজা আদেশ দিলেন| তিনি বললেন, “আমার মুখ চেয়ে তোমরা এই কাজ কর| তরুণ অবশালোমের সঙ্গে সংযত ও ভাল আচরণ কর|”সব লোক দাঁড়িয়ে শুনল যে অধিনাযকের প্রতি অবশালোম সম্পর্কে রাজা আদেশ দিলেন|
KJV : And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, [Deal] gently for my sake with the young man, [even] with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
YLT : and the king chargeth Joab, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, `Gently -- for me, for the youth, for Absalom;` and all the people heard in the king`s charging all the heads concerning Absalom.

ERVEN : The king gave a command to Joab, Abishai, and Ittai. He said, "Do this for me: Be gentle with young Absalom!" Everyone heard the king's orders about Absalom to the captains.

KJV : And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that [was] under him went away.
YLT : And Absalom meeteth before the servants of David, and Absalom is riding on the mule, and the mule cometh in under an entangled bough of the great oak, and his head taketh hold on the oak, and he is placed between the heavens and the earth, and the mule that [is] under him hath passed on.

ERVEN : It so happened that David's officers found Absalom. Absalom jumped on his mule and tried to escape, but the mule went under the branches of a large oak tree. The branches were thick, and Absalom's head got caught in the tree. His mule ran out from under him, so Absalom was left hanging above the ground.

BNV : য়োয়াব তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল: “কেন তুমি তাকে হত্যা করলে না এবং তাকে মাটিতে ফেলে দিলে না? তাহলে আমি তোমাকে একটা কোমরবন্ধ ও দশটা রৌপ্য় মুদ্রা দিতাম|”
KJV : And Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest [him,] and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten [shekels] of silver, and a girdle.
YLT : And Joab saith to the man who is declaring [it] to him, `And lo, thou hast seen -- and wherefore didst thou not smite him there to the earth -- and on me to give to thee ten silverlings and one girdle?`
RV : And Joab said unto the man that told him, And behold, thou sawest it, and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten {cf15i pieces of} silver, and a girdle.

ERVEN : Joab said to the man, "Why didn't you kill him and let him fall to the ground? I would have given you a belt and ten pieces of silver!"

BNV : ব্যক্তিটি য়োয়াবকে বলল, “তুমি আমাকে 1,000 রজত মুদ্রা দিলেও আমি রাজার পুত্রকে আঘাত করার চেষ্টা করতাম না| কেন? কারণ তোমার প্রতি অবীশয এবং ইত্তযের প্রতি রাজার আদেশ শুনেছি| রাজা বলেছেন দেখো, ‘তরুণ অবশালোমকে আঘাত করো না|’
KJV : And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand [shekels] of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none [touch] the young man Absalom.
YLT : And the man saith unto Joab, `Yea, though I am weighing on my hand a thousand silverlings, I do not put forth my hand unto the son of the king; for in our ears hath the king charged thee, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Observe ye who [is] against the youth -- against Absalom;

ERVEN : The man said to Joab, "I would not try to hurt the king's son even if you gave me 1000 pieces of silver. We heard the king's command to you, Abishai, and Ittai. The king said, 'Be careful not to hurt young Absalom.'

BNV : যদি আমি অবশালোমকে হত্যা করতাম রাজা নিজেই আমাকে খুঁজে বের করতেন এবং তুমি আমাকে শাস্তি দিতে|”
KJV : Otherwise I should have wrought falsehood against mine own life: for there is no matter hid from the king, and thou thyself wouldest have set thyself against [me. ]
YLT : or I had done against my soul a vain thing, and no matter is hid from the king, and thou -- thou dost station thyself over-against.`

BNV : য়োয়াব বলল, “তোমার সঙ্গে এখানে আমি সময় নষ্ট করব না|”অবশালোম তখনও দেবদারু গাছে ঝুলে ছিল এবং তখনও বেঁচ্ছেিল| য়োয়াব তিনটে বর্শা নিয়ে অবশালোমের দিকে ছুঁড়ে দিল| বর্শাগুলি অবশালোমের বুক বিদীর্ণ করে দিল|
KJV : Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he [was] yet alive in the midst of the oak.
YLT : And Joab saith, `Not right -- I tarry before thee;` and he taketh three darts in his hand, and striketh them into the heart of Absalom, while he [is] alive, in the midst of the oak.
RV : Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
RSV : Joab said, "I will not waste time like this with you." And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them into the heart of Absalom, while he was still alive in the oak.
ASV : Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
ESV : Joab said, "I will not waste time like this with you." And he took three javelins in his hand and thrust them into the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the oak.
ERVEN : Joab said, "I will not waste my time here with you!" Absalom was still alive and hanging in the oak tree. Joab took three sticks in his hand and hit him in the heart.

BNV : দশজন তরুণ সৈন্য য়োয়াবকে যুদ্ধে সাহায্য করত| তারা দশজনে মিলে অবশালোমকে ঘিরে দাঁড়াল ও তাকে হত্যা করল|
KJV : And ten young men that bare Joab’s armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.
YLT : And they go round -- ten youths bearing weapons of Joab -- and smite Absalom, and put him to death.

BNV : য়োয়াব তূর্য় বাজাল এবং তার লোকদের ইস্রায়েলীয়দের তাড়া না করতে আদেশ দিল|
KJV : And Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel: for Joab held back the people.
YLT : And Joab bloweth with a trumpet, and the people turneth back from pursuing after Israel, for Joab hath kept back the people;

BNV : তারপর য়োয়াবের লোকরা অবশালোমের দেহটি জঙ্গলের খাদে ফেলে দিল| সেই খাদটি তারা বড় বড় পাথর দিয়ে বুজিযে দিল|সব ইস্রায়েলীয় যারা অবশালোমকে অনুসরণ করছিল তারা পালিয়ে গিয়ে যে যার বাড়ী চলে গেল|
KJV : And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent.

BNV : অবশালোমের জীবনকালে রাজার উপত্যকায সে একটা স্তম্ভ তৈরী করেছিল এবং সেটা নিজের নামে নাম দিয়েছিল কারণ সে ভেবেছিল: “আমার নাম রক্ষা করার জন্য আমার কোন সন্তানাদি নেই|” আজও স্তম্ভটিকে “অবশালোমের স্তম্ভ” বলা হয়|
KJV : Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which [is] in the king’s dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom’s place.
YLT : And Absalom hath taken, and setteth up for himself in his life, the standing-pillar that [is] in the king`s valley, for he said, `I have no son to cause my name to be remembered;` and he calleth the standing-pillar by his own name, and it is called `The monument of Absalom` unto this day.
RV : Now Absalom in his life time had taken and reared up for himself the pillar, which is in the king-s dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called Absalom-s monument, unto this day.
RSV : Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar which is in the King's Valley, for he said, "I have no son to keep my name in remembrance"; he called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom's monument to this day.
ASV : Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar, which is in the kings dale; for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name; and it is called Absaloms monument, unto this day.
ESV : Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King's Valley, for he said, "I have no son to keep my name in remembrance." He called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom's monument to this day.
ERVEN : While Absalom was alive he put up a memorial stone in King's Valley. He said, "I have no son to keep my name alive." So he named that monument after himself. It is called "Absalom's Monument" even today.
